Site Revamp

10/23/2024

So, I wasn't satisfied with the way my website looked or functioned and decided to revamp the whole thing. I completely remade the homepage by scratch and changed the aesthetic and format entirely. Now I have a few more things fit on it besides an introduction. Joseph Joestar is no longer on my page, but I just need to find a new place to put him because it'll make me sad if he's gone. I've got a new spot for blogs, a music player, and a guestbook. The sidebar has both my website page links and socials on it now (I'm on Bluesky now, and have my Ko-fi link public too), and I've got new pages I'm working on. The Commissions, Game Reviews, and Music Collection pages all got visual updates, some minor and some major. Also I finally learned how iframes work.

For the main page I didn't like that I didn't actually put much on it, so that's why it changed so drastically. If I want in the future I can add more sections.

The Commissions page now has more room for my example images to fit, and I managed to make it so the page scales to different window sizes better. It also has a unique look compared to the main page instead of sharing it.

Game Reviews looks mostly the same but I added some aquatic fossil graphics from some pictures I took at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. The written reviews now expand instead of being a lot of text inside a little box. I added a music player in case people would like to listen to video game music I've picked out while reading. Also I promise I'm actually trying to write more of these now, I've just been finishing jack shit for the last year.

The Music Collection I had to tweak a lot. I removed a couple decorations and made the rest so that they scale to different window sizes better. I also made the content boxes a little bigger. Each album is better separated now, and I replaced the embeds with images of the album covers, the titles now link to where the album can be listened to.

The brand new page is the Library. It's not fancy yet, but purely functional.

The next page will be the Fighting Game Corner, which will essentially be a combination shrine/resource compilation/place I can write specifically about fighting games so that the main page blog can be for other topics.

After that I want to add an Art Gallery, so I don't have to rely on social media to be a portfolio. It's probably going to take a while for me to figure out how to make it in the way I want to.

For posterity I kept screenshots of the old site but I don't feel like uploading them anywhere lol. I'm going to take a little bit of a break before I get back to work on this.
